Description
This presentation will explore the persistent issue of negative media portrayal of Black men in America, focusing on how these harmful narratives contribute to widespread societal biases and reinforce systemic inequalities. Looking at historical examples and contemporary research, the discussion will highlight patterns of misrepresentation in television news and their detrimental effects on public perception. I will also propose potential solutions, including diversifying newsrooms and implementing ethical reporting practices, to address and counteract these negative portrayals. The goal is to show why fair and accurate media representation is important for creating a more just society.
