Alfie Scholars Conferences
The Alfie Scholars Program provides financial support to underrepresented community college transfer students and prepares them for civility leadership.
Each summer, Alfie Scholars attend, as a cohort, a specially tailored Seattle University Core Curriculum philosophy course. As part of this course, scholars research, present, and write about an issue of social significance which they select and on which they hope to lead a change for the common good. In this process, the scholars learn to examine their issue through the lenses of civility and philosophy and to analyze critically, creatively, and collaboratively in their search for solutions. At the end of the summer, all scholars present their papers at a professional-level conference.
