The AI Forward in PNW Academic Libraries unconference is a free one-day in-person opportunity for academic librarians to explore and discover possible intersections and impacts of AI and generative AI with academic library resources, services, and operations.
There are 2 unconferences held in this series:
- Seattle-Area Unconference held on March 8, 2024 at Seattle University
- Orbis Cascade Alliance Members Unconference to be held on October 24, 2024 in NE Portland
What is an unconference and why?
An unconference is an informal, participant-guided gathering where attendees are active participants in setting the topics discussed and collaboratively engaging and learning from one another.
A typical conference with leading experts in the field, inherently has an issue of obsolescence due to the rapid pace of AI technological development.
This unconference is intended to help alleviate pressure from and navigate around the stumbling blocks of rapid obsolescence and technology development, and provide academic librarians an opportunity to inquire about and discuss our most immediate and pressing struggles and developments around AI with one another.
