Named after activist and playwright, Lorrain Hansberry, The Hansberry Project began producing, supporting, and nurturing Black Theater and voices in 2006. The Hansberry Project has supported artists in varying career levels through mentorships and community outreach that centers Black artists and their artistic process. Co-founded by Valerie Curtis-Newton and Vivian Phillips, The Hansberry Project supports works that reflect “the richness and diversity of American life”.
