Safeco, a Seattle-based insurance company, built a major collection of Pacific Northwest art starting in 1973 to enhance their workplace while giving employees insight into Northwest art, and supporting local artists and galleries. The collection was dispersed with over 840 works donated to the Washington Arts Consortium in 2010 after the company became part of Liberty Mutual.
