Abstract
"The purpose of this paper is multifold. First, to review the current prevalence and health risks associated with teenage pregnancy in the United States. Second, to explain the psychosocial risks affiliated with time spent in the foster care system that exponentially increase a foster child's risk of teenage pregnancy. And finally, to propose a pilot program geared towards reducing the rate of foster teenage pregnancy by providing additional training and interventional resources to foster parents caring for youth within the reproductive ages of 10-21. Future endeavors regarding this course of study may include policy changes to better support foster parents and foster youth living with emotional and physiological health disparities."
