Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to review the history of cybersex as a behavior, describe its place in the typology of sex addiction, and review the literature to date on this topic. In addition, the Limitations present in the research will be identified. The information in this paper is designed to provide the reader with an understanding of cybersex that is up to date and pertinent to clinical practice. Advanced practice nurses knowledgeable in this subtype of sexual addiction will be prepared to assess and respond to clients who present with problems or concerns related to online sexual activity.
