Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to identify the barriers and proposed strategies to improve access to health care by Latino service workers in an affluent resort community in the western United States. Many traditionally underserved populations in rural communities have difficulty accessing health care due to the lack of medical facilities. Access is especially problematic in affluent, resort communities in which there is great disparity between the "haves" and "have-nots". In this paper, the author examines access issues affecting Latino service workers in a rural, affluent resort community in the western United States. During the winter, the area is a major ski resort. In summer, hikers and others interested in the great outdoors enjoy the peace and splendor of the mountains.
