Abstract
For purposes of this paper, insomnia will be defined as having difficulty falling or staying asleep, short sleep duration, waking too early in the morning, or sleep that leaves the individual feeling fatigued or tired (National Institutes of Health, 2003). Alcohol abuse refers to patterns of problem drinking that result in health sequalae, social difficulties, or both. Alcoholism will be defined for purposes of this paper as an aggregate of cognitive, behavioral, and physiological symptoms signaling that the individual continues to use alcohol in spite of the profound problems related to alcohol (American Psychiatric Association, 2000)
