Abstract
"As part of a quality improvement project, a survey was conducted to assess patient perspectives of their care at an obstetrical clinic for patients with substance use disorder. Six themes emerged from a qualitative analysis of the data, revealing several potential areas for clinical improvement. Themes included (1) confidence in treatment, (2) barriers to care, (3) need for more education, services and resources; (4) treatment, pregnancy, and parenting concerns; (5) benefits of and concerns regarding group learning, and (6) engagement of support people. Programmatic recommendations are based on data analysis and a review of the existing literature. Ongoing and complete program evaluation is recommended for future quality improvement initiatives. Keywords: substance use disorder, pregnancy, prenatal care, opioid-agonist treatment, stigma, quality improvement"
