Abstract
Despite the remarkable impact of vaccines on public health, many parents refuse or delay vaccinations for their children. This paper explores provider-level interventions to communicate with vaccine-hesitant parents. A comprehensive literature review was conducted using several databases including PubMed, ProQuest, and Google Scholar. Additionally, information from CDC.gov, APP.org, AAFP.org, HealthyPeople.gov, and HealthChildren.org was taken into consideration. Major themes that emerged in the literature review include: the timing of vaccination discussions, importance of a strong provider-parent relationship and maintaining contact, use of therapeutic communications strategies, and strategies for dispelling vaccine misconceptions. Recommendations for healthcare providers and future research needs are identified. Keywords: children, vaccination, vaccine-hesitant, provider-level intervention, strategy, communication
