Abstract
This literature review discusses the characteristics, pathology, and impacts of Crohn's Disease (CD). This review will specifically focus on the medical management of steroid-refractory CD patients. The articles discussed within this review provides evidence-based alternatives to corticosteroids in the induction of active, steroid-refractory CD. This review will include the medication class, dosing schedule, mechanism of action, and efficacy of medications. This review is intended to inform the practicing clinician of medical treatments available for induction therapy in active steroid-refractory CD.
